Laura Ullrich, PLPC, NCC
Helping children, teens, and adults navigate difficult seasons with warmth, compassion, and confidence.
About Laura
Taking the first step toward counseling can feel difficult—especially when you're reaching out for help for yourself or for someone you love. Laura wants every client who walks through her door to feel comfortable, valued, and welcomed from the very beginning.
Laura Ullrich, PLPC, NCC, brings more than 20 years of church ministry experience and 16 years serving full-time as a Children's Minister in Mississippi. Throughout her years in ministry, she has had the privilege of walking alongside children and families through both joyful seasons and difficult circumstances. Her longstanding passion for helping children, parents, and families ultimately led her to pursue a career in counseling.
Laura believes that every person is uniquely created by God, and because no two clients are exactly alike, therapy should never be one-size-fits-all. She takes time to understand each client's story, personality, needs, and goals before developing an approach that works for them.
Whether she's working with a child through play and art, helping a teenager navigate a difficult season, or sitting across from an adult with a cup of coffee, Laura strives to create a counseling environment that feels warm, genuine, and safe.
If you're feeling defeated, overwhelmed, or anxious, you don't have to navigate it alone.
Areas of Focus:
Laura works with children, teens, college students, adults, women, men, and families, with a particular passion for helping children and adolescents as well as adult women. Her areas of focus include:
Anxiety
Depression
ADHD in children and teens
Trauma and PTSD
Grief and loss
Church hurt and spiritual struggles
Parenting support
Stress and burnout
Life transitions
Self-esteem
Spiritual matters
Laura is especially passionate about working with children ages 6–12, teens ages 13–18, and adult women.
She understands that children and teenagers often communicate their experiences differently than adults do. Through play therapy and art therapy, Laura creates opportunities for younger clients to express feelings and experiences in ways that feel natural to them.
For parents, Laura views counseling as a collaborative effort. She works alongside parents and caregivers to build a strong support system around children and teens as they learn to navigate difficult emotions, behaviors, relationships, and life circumstances.
Laura’s Therapeutic Approach
Warm. Collaborative. Encouraging. Person Centered.
Laura believes therapy should be tailored to the individual. Just as God has made every person unique, no two clients will respond to exactly the same approach.
She uses a blend of cognitive behavioral approaches, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) techniques, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills training, adapting her approach based on the age, needs, personality, and goals of each client.
Working With Children
When working with children, Laura incorporates play therapy and art therapy, recognizing that play is often the language children naturally use to communicate.
From finger painting to playing basketball, Laura creates opportunities for children to express themselves, develop emotional awareness, and learn how to handle difficult experiences in age-appropriate ways.
Working With Teens & Adults
With teens and adults, Laura explores the connection between thoughts, behaviors, emotions, and actions while working collaboratively toward the client's goals.
Clients can expect a warm and welcoming environment where they can express themselves honestly and learn practical ways to navigate the “tough stuff” of life.
Laura's calm and patient personality helps provide a steady presence when life feels chaotic, while her lighthearted and playful side can help children feel more comfortable in an unfamiliar environment.
Her ultimate goal is for clients to leave therapy believing:
“I can do hard things.”
Laura hopes clients develop a stronger sense of who they are, recognize the progress they've made, and leave with greater resilience and confidence for whatever comes next.
Christian Counseling & Faith Integration
Laura loves incorporating faith into counseling for clients who desire a Christian approach.
With more than 20 years of church ministry experience, Laura believes that God can work through even the difficult circumstances we face and bring about good.
When clients want to incorporate their faith into therapy, Laura walks alongside them as they explore God's heart and purpose for their lives.
Faith integration may include exploring spiritual questions, Christian beliefs, Scripture, identity, purpose, and how faith can provide hope and perspective during difficult seasons.
Laura's goal is to support the whole person—body, mind, and soul—while honoring each client's individual needs and goals.
